General Information

1.1 Introduction

Several items are required by Mike Goulian and ground crew members while at the airshow site. The show sponsor is therefore requested to supply, (a) hotel/motel accommodations,    (b) personal transportation, (c) aircraft hangar and service facilities at the airport, (d) servicing and maintenance assistance, (e) fuel, engine oil, and smoke oil for the show aircraft.

1.2 Lodging

Hotel/motel accommodations must be provided for the performer and crew for Mike Goulian   (3 rooms/Non-smoking if possible).  Rooms should be reserved beginning the evening prior to the first press day or first press day.  Due to weather constraints, please allow the hotel/motel accommodations to be extended through the evening following the last performance.  The sponsor is not expected to pay any miscellaneous room charges.

1.3 Vehicles

Arrangements must be made for a late model minivan and an automobile to be available at the airshow airport upon arrival (if minivan or SUV is unavailable please provide two automobiles). Vehicles should be marked or have windshield passes with appropriate authority to allow access to all secured areas of the airport and the flight line at any time.

1.4 Aircraft security

Arrangements must be made to provide secure hangar space for each aircraft upon arrival.  Crowd control measures must be available to protect the aircraft while in the hangar and on the flight line.

Aircraft Operational Requirements

2.1 Aircraft Fuel

Fuel must be available on the flight line for refueling between airshow flights. The performance and any support aircraft require 100/130 octane aviation fuel, or 100 octane low lead aviation fuel.  Fuel requirements are:

Refueling operations are not permitted without the pilot or ground crew at the aircraft!!!

2.2 Aircraft Engine Oil

Engine oil must be available to replenish oil consumed during flight.
Requirements for the performance aircraft are:

Type - Castrol Aviator - AD100
CAP 232 - 1 case per show

2.3 Aircraft Smoke Oil

Smoke oil should be available before each flight and at the conclusion of each performance day.  The barrels must be portable either in the back of a pickup truck or on a hand cart.

The smoke producing characteristic of oils vary so the correct oil must be supplied to produce dense white smoke. The preferred oil, Cannopus Oil #13, is by far the best smoke oil.  If Cannopus is not available other paraffin based oils may be used.  Acceptable are listed below.

Miscellaneous Information

3.1 Aircraft Insurance

Mike Goulian Airshow carries public liability insurance on each aircraft for all activities including airshows in the amount of $3,000,000.00.

3.2 Airport Service Personnel

To insure that possible mechanical problems can be remedied, a qualified aircraft mechanic  (A & P), with tools, should be available during the airshow, this should be sufficient, otherwise have a qualified A & P mechanic standing by.

3.3 FAA Waiver Information

The following information should be used to fill out FAA form 7711-2 - Waiver Application:

Air Show Checklist

4.1 Introduction

The successful production of an airshow requires attention to hundreds of details, many of which may seem insignificant for advance planning.  We hope this checklist will provide you with the answers to most of the MGAS operational requirements.

4.2 Preliminary Items

  (    ) Booking confirmed by Mike Goulian Airshows

 (   ) Performance agreement signed and deposit sent to Mike Goulian Airshows

4.3 Advance Items

 (   ) Hotel/motel reserved for MGAS Crew (3 non-smoking rooms)

 (   ) Automobiles reserved for MGAS Crew (1 car, 1 mini van or SUV)

 (   ) B Roll footage (if required) requested

 (   ) Press kits/press releases ready for distribution

The MGAS team realizes how enormous a task planning an airshow can be. Therefore, we have compiled a short manual which should help you in preparing for our arrival. The manual is comprehensive, but could not possibly cover all of your questions.
